Makwaia is an Alt-Pop artist, born and raised in NYC, now based in LA. With artists as parents, she grew up immersed in creativity, singing before she could even speak, and developing a lifelong love for music that defies genre boundaries. Known for her unique fusion of alternative, pop, punk, and R&B, she crafts songs that are as emotionally charged as they are provocative- blending jazzy, soulful vocals with high-energy, anti-establishment undertones.

One half of the folk noir duo Sybling, Makwaia is now diving into a deeply personal solo project. Her upcoming EP, set to release in early 2025, explores the theme of persona and masks in the digital age, pulling back the curtain on what’s false or fabricated in society. Through her music, she challenges perceptions and invites listeners to confront the blurred lines between reality and performance.
